ABOUT US
Kung Tak Yuen was not built from a boardroom or a brief. It was built
from years spent in places that rarely appear on aid maps — remote
classrooms, under-resourced children's homes, elderly facilities running
on very little — where the founder watched need go unmet not from a
lack of compassion, but from a lack of structure, training, and sustained
presence.
What began as a commitment to show up has grown into five distinct but
interconnected programs, each addressing a different dimension of the
same underlying truth: that vulnerability does not exist in isolation, and
neither should the response to it. Children need materials and safety.
Elders need resources and dignity. Young mothers need a path — not
charity, but genuine economic agency. And the volunteers who enter
these spaces need to be properly equipped to help without causing
harm.
The Village Society Project is perhaps the most personal chapter of all —
a recognition that the city the founder calls home, Hong Kong, carries its
own wounds. With one of the highest youth suicide rates in the region
and a generation of single mothers navigating a system with few
footholds, the work that began overseas has found its way back to where
it started.
Kung Tak Yuen means to plant virtue — and that is precisely what this
organisation intends to do, one community at a time.
